The woman behind the name

So, my name's not really Ellie.

Or Adelina.

My name is actually Eliesa Marie Hamilton.

I was born in 1991 and my favorite color is yellow.
I changed my college major 9 times.
I can eat popcorn like it's my job.
nothing sets my soul on fire more than human connection.

So what's in a name?

The truth us, I've bucked against my identity for two and a half decades. #existentialcrisismuch?

The nickname Ellie comes from a need in my mid-teens to:
1) separate myself from my "childhood" name, which felt like it carried with it painful memories of a traumatic upbringing, and
2) release the general public from butchering the pronunciation of Eliesa (uh-LEASE-uh).

Adelina came around later, and you can read more about that here.

(Fun fact: for a minute, my last name was Rockhill, because I was once married to a guy, but I'm not married to him anymore.)

While "Eliesa" doesn't carry the same weight in my heart like it once did (some of my favorite humans call me that now, to my delight!), I love the ring of Ellie Adelina, so the name sticks around.

As my pappap would say, you can call me whatever you want, just not late for dinner.

Anyway, welcome to my space on the internet.

You can read my words.
&
You can hire me to read yours.

Thanks for caring, and I love you.
